Ten One Ate- Chia Seed Pudding and Ancient Grain Salad, Organic

Along the palm-tree clad boulevard of Mount Alexander Road, Essendon, it seems fitting to find an organic cafe carving a space for itself. Afterall, the image of tall leafy palms, coconuts and organic food has been long associated with an attractive lifestyle of health and happiness.

With the cafe buzzing on a Sunday afternoon, you can tell no one was in a hurry to move past the plates at Ten One Ate.

Contrary to what you think, it's not all kale and quinoa here. What comes out of the kitchen, more often than not, are pink fairy-flossed pancakes, freakshakes and burger stacks. The food here are supremely colorful, and they look sinfully delicious. The word 'organic' may have gotten customers through the door, but it's the naughty eats that are making them stay.*

Ancient Grain Salad with Grilled Salmon. Gluten-free and Dairy-free.
Being the only cafe and eatery within a one kilometer radius, Ten One Ate aims to cater to the palate of Essendon locals and progressive youngsters. The cafe offers a mash of ol' school breaky faves, as well as trendy yet insane looking grubs.

Superfood Breakfast Salad: leafy greens tossed in a matcha and pomegranate dressing. Gluten-free and Dairy-free.
You can have your chia pudding and go halfies on the aforementioned buttermilk pancakes with persian fairy-floss. Both are delicious. The same barista whizzing out healthy, antioxidant-rich Berry Very Nice Smoothie is also the maker of the outlandish Cookie Dough Freakshake. Healthy green salads, burgers, tacos, waffles and po'boys; the concept of having it all on one table is a little mad. Don't be surprised finding your place at the table.

The Chia Seed Pudding with fresh berries in Almond Milk. Gluten-free without granola. Dairy-free.
The cafe prides itself on using organic produce and products, locally sourced in Australia where possible. For myself, how enticing the food is and its taste factor are not due to the fact that the produce and products used are organic. Rather, I think the credit goes to the chef and creative director on their effort in making sure that whatever comes out the kitchen is tasty and its visual appeal ultra exciting.
